Your Guide to Better Health & Wellness
Without attending to ourselves, we cannot function at our best. Below are some helpful tips to guide you towards better health and self-care. Keep in mind that you do not need to make huge changes – consider small actions you can take today to positively improve the quality of your life.
Given the amount of stress many people are facing today, good nutrition has never been more important. There are plenty of nutrients that can help mitigate everyday stressors. Forgiveness is not easy but its necessary to our emotional and physical well-being. Whether we were slighted by a co-worker or betrayed by a loved one, our inner peace depends on our ability to let go – it brings the possibility of growth and positive change. The ability to be ‘in the present moment’ releases the mind from habitual, ruminative patterns that lead to worry and burn-out, and enables more intuitive, productive and creative responses to life’s challenges. Attending to your inner-self is key to nurturing spirituality and your sense of connection. During moments of stress and uncertainty, find ways to remain grounded and centered. Whether it is prayer, meditation, mantras, yoga, or sitting in silence, go to that place for your sustenance. Please see resources below.
Try to be more conscious of who is in your space on a daily basis. Are they providing you with good, warm energy? Or are they draining you, leaving you feeling tired and anxious? Surround yourself with people who make you feel good and inspire you to to be the best version of yourself.
Movement and exercise releases those “feel good” hormones to your brain and throughout your body, facilitating a better emotional state. Attempt to get at least 30-60 minutes of exercise at least every other day, if not daily. Check out my post on exercise & movement for some creative ideas.
Because of my own tendency to work a lot, I have had to be very diligent in making sure that I take breaks throughout the day and get good sleep. Sleep is essential for your health and sense of well being but so many of us do not get good sleep. Please download my article on Why We Need Sleep for helpful tips.
If you are feeling stressed or overwhelmed, find something creative to do and lose yourself in the moment. Science has shown that creativity is stress reliever. It could be writing, drawing, dancing, singing, creating music – whatever the activity, give yourself permission to get lost in the moment.
