My Approach

My primary goal is to support women in creating a strong foundation for lifelong recovery. Women have a variety of social and cultural pressures that are uniquely challenging to them. As mothers, nurturers, caregivers, and providers, women tend to put the needs of others before their own. As a result, women often delay seeking help.

Some women are afraid that they will be separated from their children if they admit to substance use, or fear they will be chastised or punished by spouses, partners, and loved ones.

As women, we face unique biological, social, cultural and environmental factors that can contribute to addiction as well as hinder us from seeking treatment.

Mounting research demonstrates that addiction is rarely if ever, a single dimension issue for women. Addiction is always a part of a larger portrait that includes a woman’s individual history, and the social, economic, and cultural factors that create the context of her life.

As an experienced recovery and health coach, I recognize the importance of addressing the multidimensional needs of women and believe recovery for women should be approached differently.

My Approach to Recovery

My whole-person approach to recovery encompasses the mind, body and spirit. By helping my clients adopt a more balanced approach to life, they are better able to manage stress and regulate impulses and emotions, which is the aim of recovery.  In partnership with my clients, I help to create a comprehensive recovery program tailored towards their specific needs.  I believe that the strength to heal and overcome addiction lies within each person. Thus, I help to empower my clients to see their innate strength and to make choices beneficial to their recovery. While recovery from addiction is the main focus, I also work with clients to gain clarity around their life’s purpose, goals, career, and education path.  We address interpersonal communication, coping skills, and overall health and wellbeing. When a person is healthy and resilient in mind, body and spirit, they are less likely to relapse.
